Nutrition
Before nurturing young minds, we must first nurture young bodies.
Grow healthy
Good nutrition changes everything: when families have steady meals, children can grow healthy and stay in school.
Many children who attend Peacock sessions come from households facing food insecurity. Hunger affects concentration, emotional regulation, and learning. For this reason, nutrition is integrated into our child development approach.
Reverse malnutrition
We also run a Malnutrition Reversal Program, where malnourished children receive balanced meals for 12 consecutive days at a central community site. Mothers and caregivers rotate in preparing meals alongside our team, allowing them to learn practical, affordable nutrition practices they can continue at home.
During this period, we also hold group discussions with caregivers on children’s emotional well-being, mental health, and healthy development reinforcing the connection between nutrition, brain development, and emotional stability.
